Dan Butler

Mr Dan Butler is a highly experienced, New Zealand and UK-trained Specialist Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgeon, now practising in the Bay of Plenty. He offers private consultations and surgery through the Da Vinci Clinic and Grace Hospital in Tauranga, as well as the East Bay Specialist Centre in Whakatāne. In the public health system, Dan holds appointments at both Tauranga and Whakatāne Hospitals.

With over 15 years of clinical experience in plastic surgery, Dan is known for delivering high standards of personalised care. He develops tailored treatment plans for each patient, combining surgical precision with a thoughtful and compassionate approach.

Dan began his surgical training in New Zealand before relocating to the United Kingdom, where he completed his specialist training in Plastic Surgery in London. He then undertook two years of advanced fellowship training, covering cosmetic surgery (Harley Street), skin cancer management, head and neck oncology, and complex microsurgical reconstruction.

A particular area of interest and expertise for Dan is facial palsy. He has gained extensive experience in adult and paediatric facial nerve reconstruction through his time working at three of the UK’s busiest facial palsy centres. Dan went on to hold consultant posts at two of the UK’s most renowned plastic surgical institutions — Charing Cross Hospital in London and Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead — before returning home to New Zealand.

Dan now brings this international experience to his local practice, where he is committed to advancing care for patients with facial nerve disorders, skin cancer, and a range of reconstructive and cosmetic needs.
